[2013/11/19]3M Fully Supported Joyful Charity Run

Accompanied by more than twenty 3M staffs, Jim Bauman, Vice President of 3M Asia Pacific, and Barry Liao, Managing Director of 3M Hong Kong, participated in the “Joyful Charity Run” which was held in the Ocean Park by “Joyful Foundation” on November 17, 2013. All runners were gathered at the entrance of Ocean Park Middle Kingdom Restaurant at around 6am. Wearing the specially-made bright yellow T-shirt and blue jackets, the 3M runners looked smart and energetic. They warmed up with scratching and small runs, and took photos as well. The Charity Run started at 7a.m. Runners either ran the 3km flat route or the 10km sloping route in the theme park, and our two top managers chose to run the latter one. To show full support, 3M also donated a total of 1,000 boxes of Nexcare™ Kung Fu Panda Comfort Bandage and 100 jackets with heat-transferred 3M Scotchlite Reflective Materials.

The Charity Run was finished before 8:30am. 3MHK Team 2, including Barry Liao, KM Kwok, Ken Yum, Kit Leung and Oliver Cheung as members, won the 2nd runner-up in 10 Km Company Category. The award presentation ceremony of the Charity Run was then held at 8:30am. Nearly 1,500 people participated in the charity run and the atmosphere was charged with excitement.

“Joyful Foundation” was established in 2004 as a non-profit making charitable organization to promote emotional and mental health; and to assist those suffer from depression and other mental illnesses. The purposes of the “Joyful Charity Run” were to raise fund for its educational programme and professional consultation programme; and to raise the public’s awareness on emotional and mental health.

Sustainability is part of 3M’s DNA. Serving the community and making donations to help the needy is a core of our corporate culture. The Charity Run is a good opportunity for 3Mers to lend a helping hand to those needy ones, and also have a day-out to enjoy exercise and the autumn breezes with their colleagues!
