[2013/01/10]3M Hong Kong Preserves Energy and Reduces its Carbon Footprints

3M Hong Kong is proud to receive the “Progress Award” from The Power Smart Contest 2012 for reaching the energy saving target by 2% in 2011. 3M Hong Kong has joined the Contest – an annual territory-wide competition organized by Friends of the Earth (Hong Kong) – for 4 consecutive years. It has reduced electricity consumption by 11% in total, which equals to 53 tons of CO2 emission.

As one of the world pioneers in innovation and technology, 3M was among the first corporations to introduce the concept of “sustainability” in the processes of production and operation. And, “sustainable development” is also fundamental to the philosophy of 3M Hong Kong. For over half a century, it has been implementing a wide array of environmentally-friendly policies, promoting green messages to the public, and rolling out such ingenious and practical products as one-touch water saving valve and sun control window film to help people at home or in the workplace to conserve natural resources. Furthermore, it actively donates money and products to non-profit organizations and charities in support of their various services to build a harmonious and inclusive society. Since 2006, 3M Hong Kong has become the Earth Partner of Friends of the Earth (Hong Kong) to actively participate in its environmental protection and educational activities.
